5 Destroyer History Foundation The purpose of the Destroyer History Foundation to perpetuate interest in World War II US Navy destroyer history by preserving and making accessible records, accounts, images and other artifacts that might otherwise be lost when US Navy destroyer veterans pass on. It is an outgrowth of this web site, an individual effort to collect information in collaboration with World War II shipmates, organizations, active duty naval officers and others.

5 USS Bainbridge (DD-1) 100 Years-America's Celebration of the Destroyers. 100 years have passed since the commissioning of the United States first destroyer the USS Bainbridge (DD-1) (Nov. 24, 1902). This site helps communicate information about events, reunions, and other Navy related information.

7 USS KIDD (DD-661)- The USS KIDD (DD-661) & NAUTICAL CENTER is a a museum in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. Sponsored by the Louisiana Naval War Memorial Foundation. This floating museum allows a first hand view of a World War II era Fletcher class destroyer.

8 USS NICHOLAS DD-449 was the first Fletcher class destroyer to be commissioned. This is an excellent website with lots of detail about Fletcher class ships.

9 USS ROOKS (DD 804) One of the last Fletcher class destroyers commissioned. The Rooks had the highest number of any Fletcher class ship.
